The PORAC Retiree Medical Trust is an IRS-recognized 501(c)(9) trust operating under the rules of the federal Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA). Generally speaking, those rules protect the retirement assets of U.S. workers. What Is the Purpose of the RMT?

We are heading into the fourth quarter of 2020 with riots, anarchy, civil unrest, racial tensions, unbelievably poor legislation, violent attitudes toward law enforcement, COVID-19 and a presidential election. For me, the real topper was the cancellation of our annual Conference of Members. I think we are all a bit numb just thinking about it all.
Irony: A Big Part of Life
Like most everyone else, the past two months have been filled with some confusion and a lot of uncertainty for me. The term “new normal” makes my skin tingle. But things have changed, of
that we can be sure. As for the Retiree Medical Trust, many routine items have been halted. We haven’t been able to conduct in-person meetings of any kind. Travel by air hasn’t been desirable, so we were forced to cancel our second quarter Board of Trustees meeting.
